resolution: a determination to do something. this is what we aspire to once a year.
i am not sure if i often keep my resolutions, perhaps because i am not sure i often remember them. I do however make an effort to look at my life this time of the year and see where improvements could be made for more happiness.
I spent time this year discussing resolutions with my husband to have a balanced idea on what may be realistic. I can be a pie in the sky kind of girl now and then. We spoke about the idea of setting a few couples resolutions along with the ones we chose for ourselves. This idea appeals to me.
As a couple we have decided to continue to focus on any outstanding debt and make a strong effort to move to better financial place. This is a continued effort as this has been something we made as a goal last summer and again late in the fall when we made great financial movements forward. We have also decided to make us time a continued priority as the birth of the baby makes 3. I know some people who will laugh at the idea of this, but we really do value our time to talk and be quiet with each other and can see the benefit this will have on our family. I am already looking forward to the first bbq dinner on the back deck with a glass of wine.
I feel like these 2 goals are an extension of what we do now, but with more of a focus on ensuring their success in 2011.
As my own resolutions I have decided to make more conscious thoughts about what is put into my body and what is not. I like to think of myself as a fairly healthy eater, but I continue to find more ways to improve. I want to increase the good and decrease the bad. I am also going to make personal time a priority. This does not mean alone time, but time doing things I personally find enjoyable and rewarding. I will make time to be outdoors, and make time to be less absorbed by technology when indoors. I am looking forward to mid spring and our first hike to the lake to take pictures of nature emerging.
I feel these 2 goals may take effort on my part after the birth of our daughter, but can be something that is also a part of my routine. I know she will benefit from both, so it is easier to have goals that she is included in.
