Not all that long ago in the past I told a small tale of my technology impaired mother (not to you on this blog, so it was a 'you had to be there moment'). I mentioned that she is an educated women, and has worked on computers before in various jobs, she e-mailed, used various programs, yet seems to lack the ability to retain this info. She was never savvy, but she could survive. As of yesterday she was once again without internet (she seems to add it to her telephone bill when a new e-mail address comes along, only to cancel down the road) or a valid e-mail address and was content with being removed from socitial norms. This confuses me since she was once very into e-mail, the internet and computers in general. The tale I told was about her lack of ability to maintain an e-mail address and over the years has had many. They are always created around the time of a trip somewhere so she can keep in touch while she travels. Tonight was no exception. I called her to pass on my e-mail (which has been the same for 8ish years) as I knew she would not know it, having no access to an e-mail account so she could once again e-mail while traveling. During this call she mentions that once she arrives she will look into one of these hotmail accounts and e-mail me from that. Fearing the phone call I would get from a cell at a pay per minute internet cafe on the step by step instructions for setting up an account, I once again created her another e-mail account.
Perhaps when she is done this trip, I will keep this account open for spam mail.

No matter what, my parents are more technology impaired than your mom. Neither of them have ever had an email address. They also think bank machines are evil creations that take away jobs. (They are both hippies in their hatred of technology.)
