I was on the road a lot for work this week. The long hours in the car and a constant switch to the next station gave my memory lots of time to review things.
The song "electric avenue" (if this isn't the title, it should be, and you all know which song I mean) came on. I was immediately drawn back to my second apartment in Kuujjuaq where I lived for 2 years. Although there may have been a street name, it was not used, and certainly not with the mail system up there. I was a PO box only. Ordering things from the south often conflicted with this simple method and they usually required a street address regardless. I started to give out my apartment number and Electric Avenue as my street name. It made me chuckle that I lived on that street for a few years.
Another memory job was from a talk radio segment on something to do with either hills, skiing, or new years, as the thought that rushed in was about a new years eve party at a ski resort. I think it was the year 2000, perhaps 2001 that I went to a private ski resort in Blue Mountain for New Years Eve. It was a friend of a friend who was a member and got me in. The theme was Medieval and I wore silver metallic pants and a silver sequence top to look like a knight. I may have actually had one of those items in my wardrobe rotation. The resort was awesome, and lax on rules. After we rang in the new year we were told we could go out to the hill and for a glass of champagne the groomer would take you for a ride. I took up the opportunity and got to ride the groomer as it climbed straight up and straight down some very steep ski hills.
It is always interesting the random things we have in our portfolios of life that are often not shared.
Next week is the blogs birthday...so I will make a special posting this weekend to celebrate 5 years of blogging (minus the large gaps).
