I am really happy with the christmas tree this year. I didn't put one up last year, so this year feels extra special. My tree is old, ancient in the way of tree technology these days. It came with my husband, who had it in college, which was found in a garage sale. It still has all its branches and it is green, so we keep it. It actually looks nice when the effort to 'fluff' it is put in.
I have a lot of christmas balls, and I would have even more if I could afford them, but I have a certain theme, and the additional pieces I have in mind are costly, so I will wait. We went with peacock colours this year, which seems to be my favorite.
800 lights, a mossy green tulle made of wire for garland, and then balls in a matte and shiny finish in white, pearl, mossy green, teal and baby blue. I accented it with silver, sparkly twigs throughout and a silver, sparkly wire star on top. I need to find a way to capture the glory of this tree in photos. Daytime pics miss the brilliance of all the lights and glimmer and nighttime pics do not do the colours justice.
Next year I may bring in a real tree. All the mess, and all the smell to start some family traditions.
