I am not sure if it is the baby, my lack of go at the end of a project but this is the only project we have done so far at this house that has taken this long. I am sure, and unfortunately so, that it will be until the end of July that we are still picking away at this. The evenings are too short to get much done, and the weekends too precious to waste them working. Perhaps the heat can take a little blame as well. In fact, this post was started a few weeks ago, and I forgot I started it. Now to finally add pictures and post!
I didn't want the end of the deck to be squared off. I would miss the curves we had with the pool deck. My solution: add in some curve to mimic the roundness of the raised fire pit. The final look (if it ever happens) will have cushions (3 or 4) in a stripped outdoor fabric on the deck to make a sitting area for fires, and the flagstone will be placed in a circular shape under and around the fire pit.
This is a birds eye view from the garage roof of the flagstone set into place. The path continues at the top of the picture to wrap around the side of the house and to another deck to our back door. Part of the procrastination listed above will have the reader note that all of these stones are just 'set' in place, not actually installed.
A few shots of potential sitting areas.....these are works in progress.
1. The muskoka chairs - for chilling out after 4 (shade time)
2. dining area
3. gazebo lounge area.....great for bug filled nights.
