back to school

I have started to see the back to school ads in the paper and hear them on the radio. I have also seen friends who are teachers post their disgust for these ads on their facebook updates. I secretly kind of like them. sharing that makes it less of a secret now. my like is two-fold.....

one fold: I like school. I always liked buying my back to school supplies and checking them out for days before going back to school. I like the newness of a set of sharpened pencil crayons and a notebook of all fresh paper. I still like to browse through Staples at this time of year and I still want those things.

two fold: I feel a sense of resentment towards those who have what I want. I spent a lot of time and committed a lot of myself to the passion of teaching. I really want(ed) to teach. It is a piss of that there were no jobs other than part time supply for years. I hate that I had to go a different route to pay the bills. So I like that those who have the summer off have a little back to school devil counting down the days in their ears. I say those ads are brilliant!

I still love looking at back to school supplies. I also want to buy new stuff. I loved buying paper and pencils and pens etc and getting all my new notebooks set up for school.
I also get a little satisfaction when teachers start grumbling about going back to school. I can understand their grumblings, but they get summers off, while the rest of us have to work.
