standards in business

I speak with a lot of people via e-mail. When I am at work, this is my main form of communication. Since being away from work I still make a lot of e-mail contacts for kijiji deals, small business opportunities, etc. I have found that I make quick fast judgments about people based on a few things.....things I have been guilty of as well.

When communication starts, I always judge someone based on their e-mail address. If you want to do business with me, if you want me to hire you for something, get a professional e-mail address. Anything with '2hot4u' in the address automatically has me dismiss you and your e-mail becomes void. A simple first and last name goes a long way.

Spell my name correctly. I end all communication with my full name. You have the spelling from day 1. When you write back and spell my name wrong, I dismiss you. It shows me you lack attention to detail, you don't care about who you are working with and you are arrogant. I dismiss your e-mail and I look to the next person. I only allow my name to be misspelled if we have only spoken on the phone.

Spell check and skip the text lingo. I am a poor speller. POOR! I do however spell check when it counts and make an effort to chose my words correctly. If you want to be employed by me, if you want to work with me, if you want to have a business connection, you need to speak like an adult. Using 'u', '4', '2' instead o f the word always has me dismiss you.

U mean u always dismiss peeps who use lingo instead of real words? haha

I do the same thing, especially if someone is replying about a potential job. A little spell check and use of proper English/grammer goes a long way!

My biggest pet peeves are 'Yous guys', and 'I seen that person'
