hemmed hands

I am off to find a pair of jeans for the fall. I have a very difficult time with this process.....nothing ever fits. I am short!!! I wish they made jeans in a larger variety of lengths, as I would not have to wear cuffs on all my pants or fold them under and duct tape as I do now.
I know there is always the option of having pants tailored but they seem to do something weird to jeans when this happens. The bottom hem never looks the same and always has a homemade apperance to it, which i hate when i just paid good money for unhomade pants. the worries.....ha!

One a nother less vein note, i heard a great line today. I was sitting in class, a great class and listening to a story, No Time by Heather Menzies. Our prof read to us about a life that is filled and hectic and busy. It spoke about just going through the motions of the day, but not living. It spoke of my daily life style of up too early, check e-mail, not notice i even drank my teas as I am in a daze, run through my agenda and to do list and day, etc etc, and come home feeling i accomplished something when i really did nothing about living at all. Discusses how unengaged we have become from ourr own lives. Recommended read. I wrote down this line as it was read - 'it is not that the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing, it is that they compete.' and another ... 'we wear our worn out faces as a badge of honour that we have accomplished something.'
Just makes me think that even though we are all busy with life, work or school it is more important now than ever to take time for yourself. Savour that cup of coffee, people watch, really enjoy that bottle of wine, do something that really is just for you.

I think i will base this year on this last idea "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." -- Mark Twain

Even though I'm taller than you are, I have short legs too. I recently found a pair of jeans at Bluenotes that are exactly the right length for me, so I'm super happy right now. :)

Yeah, I think we live in a world with a crazy pace. I found since I've started working, I've been able to more or less strike a successful balance between work and real life. Some of my colleagues are total workaholics, and I could totally become like them if I let myself, but I try to get off of the workahol and enjoy other things.

OK people....being short is better than being tall! You can tailor pants, you can't lengthen them!

Ok, that was my mini pant rant :P
