and a month late I get here

Well, this is my Jan 1st blog for resolutions. Late much?
To be fair, I had not settled on resolutions by Jan1st, so this was going to be late, but I had not intended on it being this late. My days feel very full at the moment, which does not fair well for a blog. It can only get worse come March. OI!

I really spent some time on resolutions this year. I often make small changes for the good throughout the year, but enjoy that fresh start as well each year. The following is my list of 'how to make a better Sandee':
1> finances - I want to be more accountable to where money goes. As a couple, we made a spreadsheet that updates every Sunday from the bank accounts and shows us where we spend foolishly. we also see what we carry over each week to know if we are saving well. We set small debt goals with timelines for payments. this one took a few weeks to organize, but it is set up to run for the year so we can track some progress.
2> health - I want to stick to active living. I am a healthy (ish) person just in regular existence, but I know that activity leads to a better lifestyle. My goal for 2012 was to add in more activity. I already practice yoga once a week and plan to keep this in the schedule when work returns. I feel like this will be an easy one as I have been doing it for 6+ months already. I also joined a fitness class in my town on thursday nights. this was a big step for me as I am shy to do things alone, but I did it. They run in 8 weeks sessions, so I am able to take ones I like. I also bought snowshoes and a pass to the club (an early v-day gift to each other) so we can get out on family hikes. We have gone 2 times in 3 weeks so far. The goal is once a week, but the weather plays a large role in the baby getting out. Long term...as the snow won't last forever, I need to think of a new spring fitness activity to pick up.
3> enjoyment - I want to keep the the things that bring me enjoyment on a front burner. I think they left the stove for a while. I have started a few projects (started means they are in my brain and being processed) that I want to see through to the end within the year. One project is a book for Kenz, based on her bear and photography. It combines a few loves. The second is a garden project for this summer which is small, but detailed and can take the summer to finish, so it is not time consuming in one sitting. The third piece of enjoyment is getting out more. I need to say yes to invitations, see movies, go for dinner, and buy some tickets for plays, events, shows that I like. I think I always come back from a moment out more inspired for life and more willing to do it again. I have started this already with a few dinners out with friends, and plans for both february and march.

It's never too late to set resolutions. I do it several times a year.

I love the last about about getting out more. I think that's so important!
